A noisy hard drive is seldom noisy for long - it will fail pretty soon. Best advice is to back up and look for a new hard drive. If it is "whining" then that's a sure sign its about to fail (maybe bad bearings/spindle). If it is clicking too much, it probably needs defragmenting. Hiding the noise will not solve…
Re: #3 - if you marriage is on such shaky ground that you might get divorced over a forgotten greeting card, I'd say its time for a new wife anyway.
@Xander99:
I agree, but the key here appears to be not the sensor itself, but the image processing done inside the camera.
This is the bit which I think puts this project in [www.regretsy.com] territory....
Lifehacker... Dateline 2011....
@sagetyrtle: Yes, more bounce please!
Don't forget kids.... Jailbroken iPhones can used the VOIPover3G app (cydia) to fool skype into thinking its on a Wi-Fi connection, when its actually on 3G, thus making skype for iPhone actually useful!
The advice to set your water heater at the same temp. as the DW maker recommends, is silly for 2 reasons. First it'll use a lot more gas to keep that water hot. Second, your water heater will burn out quicker, and water heaters cost a lot more to replace than dishwashers do!
One thing I have found the Apple Remote app useful for... our daughter has a habit of standing right in front of the TV and screaming at the album covers in iTunes, whenever there's music playing. Its bad for her being so close to the TV, and bad for the TV (mucky fingerprints). By using the iPhone remote app, I can…
Either try to find organic oranges, or scrub the ones you do find really really well. The skins of regular commercial citrus contain all sorts of accumulated pesticides and other nasties.
Interesting you cite "your favorite Hydrangea", as they're one of the most hardy of all plants. They survive the harsh winters here in upstate NY pretty well.
@Polaris573: BBC news. This just gives another reason to ditch NYT in favor of BBC.
A brilliant collection. One other thing I've done is to put a small encrypted file on the CF or SD card in your phone/camera, containing critical information. It sucks if your camera is stolen (hence the encryption), but is useful to have an additional copy if your USB sticks go missing.
vote: Kodak booth in the local CVS or Tarjay
Same thing applies to numerous computer set ups, but reproduced here for netbooks anyway...
Lenovo Ideapad U110 hooked up to a regular monitor/mouse/keyboard via a USB port replicator to use it as a desktop machine. Running Win7Pro. It has more than enough power for everyday usage (core2 duo, 3GB ram, 32GB SSD, 3 USB ports, monitor port, PCIe (with a 24GB SSD in it), SD card reader (with a 32GB SD card in…
A while back I was in a discussion on an investor board regarding the apparent "pumping" of a biotechnology stock. The uppers were saying how fantastic and credible the company was. Once it was pointed out that the investor relations officer of the company was actually the CEO too, and was using an AOL email address…
