One guess as to why the manufacturers have not already made an inductive-charged, bluetooth-headphoned, wireless-synced, totally hermetically sealed device, is BATTERIES. I think there's some sort of expansion or contraction and maybe even evolution of gas associated with most batteries during charging or use. Most

Question: Can any of these programs (fariuse, handbrake etc.) work with DVDs from different countries? We have a program that re-flashes the chip in the DVD drive, making it think it is in Europe/US/Asia, so maybe we don't need such a thing in the software doing the ripping?

@tobiasdad: In case you hadn't noticed, the average work week for the US is 40 hrs. So what are you saying? Everyone who is average should not have kids? Get real. We don't live in Germany, where they get 1.5 years of full paid maternity leave. We don't work a 32 hour week like in France. Unlike Europe, many

1) Hire a cleaner! The extra 4 hours of weekend time you get (not having to vacuum, clean bathroom, do laundry) is well worth the cost.

So on the same general topic, I tried MS security essentials last week. Now its on all 4 PCs, ditched AVG for good. Huzzah for trying new things!

Man, what a horrible picture. I thought this post was about mountain biking. The captions should read... "Don't ever ride on a trail that is this eroded. Get off your bike, join a local bike club, and contribute some basic trail maintenance hours, then come back and ride the trail without destroying it".

Sacrilege! What a complete waste.

Shake out the floor mats!

Some of the advice is silly. For example chipping it and spreading the mulch/chips on flowerbeds. Pine generally results in quite acidic soil, so if your plants do not like acidic soil then they will not like being covered in pine bits.

@gibson_se: As mentioned elsewhere here, the cooking time on the packet refers to boiling time. THus, having a large body of water, when you add the pasta it doesn't cool down so much, so comes back to the boil faster, so you can start the timer for 9 min. and you're good to go. If it takes 5 min. just to get back to

@shkm: Personally I subscribe to the notion that "if god didn't want us to eat animals, why did he make them so tasty?" There's really no getting around the fact that humans are omnivores, and have been for thousands of years.

My choice of parking spot is usually governed by one thing... proximity to a cart-station. No matter where you park, what really matters is after you get back to the car, put the kids in their seats, not having to hike half way across the lot (leaving kids alone in unlocked car) to put the cart back in its place.

This sounds like horrible advice. Who the hellputs pasta into cold water and heats it up? The correct way (i.e. the way they do it in Italy, of all places) is to put the pasta into already boiling water (lots of it), and boil for 8-9 minutes max.

Of course, the solution to all this is to take the statistical approach...

Disagree.

Can you be a bit more specific on "older" vs. "newer" hardware?

C'mon LH... at least put in a warning about making sure the chimney has a good draw on it, before posting stupid stuff like this.

@lukestigdon: It would depend where I lived. In some places, 60K is fine, so I'd be happy. In others, 60K is peanuts, so the comparison then becomes millionaire & miserable vs. poor & miserable.

The "Redneck Honeymoon Kit*" always goes down well at office parties.
