@infinitemonkeys: Agreed. My laptop (IBM Thinkpad T40) had a 1L jug of water tipped over it. I ripped out the battery, shook the bejeezus out of it, then put it on the radiator overnight, and it fired up perfectly the next day. Water is not an issue provided you don't try and USE the device while its still wet.

@mrsilver: Agree 100%. Tipping is to reward good service afterwards. I don't eat out often enough for anyone at a restaurant to remember me personally, so the suggestion to tip the host is silly.

@detoys: The problem is that most people have egos that are too big (or genitals too small) that they can't handle the thought of someone overtaking them, so they speed up when you try to pass!

I wonder if Martha did this on the inside of her prison cell to count down the days?

I'm really not very convinced by people claiming that mineral oil will keep germs out of wooden boards, and you only need to wash them in mild soap. If you insist on using wooden boards, at the very least you should have a separate one for raw meat.

#4 good luck getting that altoids tin of mini-weapons through airport security!

There was a version for WM phones YEARS ago. I think it was called "minimo" and it sucked donkey balls. Hope they get it right this time round.

The "smallest room" in England is typically a euphemism for a toilet under the stairs. I don't think anyone would want an office in the toilet, although there may be certain advantages.

So this has sugar (sucrose, not glucose - BIG difference), plus some sodium and a bit of citric acid.

Whoever likes gin will automatically have at least a couple of bottles of tonic on hand. G&T is flat-out THE most refreshing after-work drink on a hot day.

Am I the only person who things this is a bad idea? I know for the gourmet/purist/super-anal pizza livers out there, nothing but a real wood-fired oven will do the trick, but seriously, that is a LOT of frickin' work (and carbon footprint) for a pizza!

Hmmm... Aveda "Hand Relief" sample sounds intriguing? Hope you know that this means something else in British English.

Stocks & Shares are cheap right now. Not as cheap as they were at the beginning of May, but for anyone with some spare cash lying around, the recession is a great time to load up ready for when the stock markets pick up again.

Am I the only person here who owns a big heavy safe, bolted to the floor? What's wrong with protecting one's valuables? Things like passports. birth certificates, bank details etc. are far more valuable than any cash these days.

@Lazzzara: And some other odd occurences...

Sure Oatmeal is a good winter breakfast when it's minus 20 outside, but on these recent mornings when it's 70 degrees at 7am, the last thing I'd want is a steaming hot bowl of oatmeal.
