Tried it. Had up to 76 MB/s Down before. Brought me down to a measly 29 MB/s Down after.
Had an unused netbook with XP and 2GB RAM on it, upgraded it to Windows 8 and made it into a 24/7 Minecraft Server & TV Media Centre. 2GB is really limited, and still haven't gotten about to upgrade the RAM.

Oh God, it's an absolute nightmare. It was the first tablet I got, and it broke down so many times that I lost count how many times I had to send it for repair. The buttons stopped working, the screen deteriorated really quickly(light leaking) and the charging port failed too. Customer service was horrible as well;…

I actually have almost the exact same specifications as you, the only difference being that I have a 256GB SSD. I use Safari on 10.8.2 too, but Gizmodo and all other Gawker sites work just fine for me.
