Just people whinging on other online boards basically (including episode review comments for it on The Guardian). The show is still renewed with Whittaker as lead for another season.

I preferred Demons in the Punjab to this. I thought it was interesting that Prem overlooked the threat from Manish because he’d become twisted so gradually.

I think this season has reminded me of the shift from 4 to 5. I think a lot of new Who (especially 10 and 11) made the Doctor too invincible and there were too many threats that were just dealt with by the Doctor basically saying “I’m the Doctor, go away”.

I would go “The Happiness Patrol” :-)

I think 13 and the companions are fine but I think I would have taken a few classic villain stories sprinkled in. A lot of the negative reaction elsewhere seems to be coming in response to the running theme of “misguided people are the problem here” and having the odd Dalek about might have helped with that.

Yeah this didn’t work for me entirely even though it was probably one of the stronger episodes. It isn’t in the power of people like Charlie to control how technology gets used to benefit/disrupt people’s lives. They just have to live through the consequences.

I like all the ingredients to this (I like 13 and the companions and it looks better and different) but I hope to god Chibnall drafts in other writers for next season. I think we are still lacking a good alien threat episode. And the pacing of a lot of these has been sluggish.

“The Doctor needs to be the leader of Team TARDIS and not an equal member.”

To be fair the show has also criticised the racial unpleasantness in the UK in the present day (when Yaz and Ryan note that racial slurs and harrassment are not unknown to them in 2018).

I love 13 and Yaz, Ryan and Graham but what I’m missing so far are a trippy episode with a really cool underlying premise (“Heaven Sent”/”Midnight”) or a fun action packed story that’s really well-written. I thought the Arachnids was a reasonable amount of fun (especially Chris Noth being convincingly loathsome) but I

I think this was the strongest episode so far. I thought the writing for Manish was quite clever as well. He has a lost wounded air that kind of hides how far he’s descended into hate.

Yeah I would have rather seen them do that bit of the story with one of the male Doctors but it never seems to have occurred to anyone to write it. I think that’s why Astos died so early, he dies because he doesn’t listen to the Doctor about not engaging with the creature.

Agreed. I keep getting behind on the show because so far the stories are at best good fun and at worst dull. It’s frustrating because I like Whittaker as the Doctor and I like the companions this season (or at least when they don’t get long clunky monologues about their sad backstories).

And realistically most college graduates are going to have to take a job they don’t want/wasn’t the ideal. That’s just how the world works.

Blame how we raise and educate children :-)

“But there’s plenty of stunning idiocy to be found, as well. Andy is so aggressively dismissive of her job at first that she comes across, not as someone who is just ignorant of the fashion world, but someone who is deliberately trying to tank her own career by being willfully hostile to her employer.”

I love her. Great interview.

Really good thanks Doctuar, I’m enjoying the space.

I think a lot of millennials had to be in bed by the time Frasier came on ;-)

Needs more Root.....
