I liked the Eden story because I feel like her story demonstrates Gilead’s fatal flaw. Eden is everything Gilead could wish for. She’s clearly been the subject of some sort of religious indoctrination from birth onwards and she uncomplainingly marries a stranger and tries for his child.

A lot of work needs to be done in the US and the UK to make sure victims of rape and abuse going forward can go to the police without being further traumatised. These allegations need to be dealt with in a court room.
