This is my favorite stand-up of all time. (Raw is a close second.)

It’s definitely the nostalgia. I watched it again myself a few months ago as an adult...I love that movie but man...it’s...not great.

ALSO! More people say they wash their hands than actually do. I’m a public health researcher by training, and there are several studies that have found that. So if 66% of Americans say they always wash after using a public restroom, you can bet that the actual number is probably around 40-50%.

Why do people continue to bend over backwards to justify other people’s racism? Are you, like the director, trying to imply that only black people will watch a horror film written by a black woman, starring some black women?

YES. Companies leave money on the table ALL THE TIME. I work for a large household name company, and I work in consumer research myself. I see it happen. ALL. THE. TIME.

As someone who works in that field...no, no they are not. You’d be surprised, perhaps, how often racial (and gender, and sexual orientation, etc.) assumptions are made NOT on the strength of studies but on the strength of some executives’ assumptions about what people in certain groups do.

We know what he means. The problem is he says it without any actual data or even experience to back up the question - he says it because he makes assumptions about what black people like to watch based on stereotypes and fluff. (And conveniently forgetting the recent success of a horror film featuring racial themes

Yeah, I moved here two years ago and I have to take prescription Vitamin D supplements just to stay awake through a whole day.

Ezell’s is just okay. I’m not really sure why everyone goes so crazy iver it, but to be fair, I’m from the South (specifically Atlanta). You can throw a rock and hit a place that sells better chicken.

Perhaps not, but what would be the harm in letting him compete for it? The kid’s in college, making good progress, it’s not like he was planning to drop out to go pro. It seems needlessly strict.

Yeah, sure, I watch too much TV...the nightly news. We have *recent* examples of black people getting hemmed up for knocking on white people’s doors and following directions after getting pulled over.

“Be warned, however, that asking your bougie black co-worker about Black Panther the comic book and character instead of their Black Panther-related plans, outfits and vision boards could be tricky.”

Hahaha, I’ve written kinder notes on my freshmen’s papers in intro psychology.

“Caught Up in the Rapture” was my wedding song. I was born the same year it came out. The old folks at our wedding were like “what they know about this” when it came on, lol

I second this I’m black and I live in Seattle, and this place is hella white. Nothing wrong with that, I still love it, but me and my husband are very very often the only not white people in the room.

“America the Beautiful” is way better, and I also love “This Land is Your Land” on the list of patriotic songs. But I think “America the Beautiful” is the best choice for a replacement anthem.

I got some friends with a 3-month-old infant and they have both the grass bottle dryer and the wipe warmer. LOL.

I can answer #4 for you - I grew up a Jehovah’s Witness. Doorstep conversion doesn’t happen very often, but when it does (and it’s a slow process - usually they’re looking to “place” a magazine or a book first, then ask if you want a Bible study, and then after a few months of Bible study that’s when they ask if you

I went to a really diverse, multicultural elementary school and my Jewish elementary school teacher celebrated Christmas, Hanukkah and Kwanzaa with us, and also taught us about other winter holidays like Yule and Diwali. She’s one of my favorite teachers.

I think that’s kind of the point though...he set up the mystery to hit home the point that who Rey’s parents are don’t matter. It makes the lesson even stronger.
