Jackson implied an American would be better qualified, which suggests that Kaluuya's performance wasn't good enough. If he had just expressed it as "I want more roles going to US actors instead of British ones", it would have been more polite to Kaluuya (who I feel responded gracefully), but still vaguely troubling.…
Awesome in the Fades too, in what could have been just a comedy side-kick role. He is seriously impressive in his command of subtleties
Sad to say that Kaluuya has some unpleasant direct experience in this area too (in addition to the general cultural experience):

Would have made for an interesting interview, though maybe not an insightful, interesting or edifying one!
He seems to do more TV (he was phenomenal in Appropriate Adult, an ITV mini-series about a serial killer), the only film I can remember him being in is Centurion. IMDB has a few others listed, but not many
Even worse was hearing Dominic West's extremely RP speaking voice - Idris is a fairly normal bloke from Hackney, West is Eton educated but I had no clue when I watched the show! I thought West was putting it on when he showed up in an advert…
And from the orthodoxy the method acting cobblers begins… The best actors work from empathy as much as (if not more than) they do from experience. You can't discount experience entirely, it makes empathy easier, but it's not a crucial as The Method implies. Heck, too many method actors look like they are acting
Yes, but Chiwetel Ejiofor is probably the best actor on the planet, so there is that…
I wish Laurence Fishburne had Jackson's profile, Fishburne has been extraordinary in some things but never seems to get the box office numbers (which is all that matters in Hollywood)
I'd say that is part true (cheap, and less emphasis on looks), but Daniel Kaluuya has been on TV for a good few years now. I suspect that the British acting schools are maybe more diverse, coaching people to work in film, TV or theatre depending on where the opportunities are.
That's fair - it's about the only place I can tolerate him too!
That would be Will Self…
I am self aware which is why I explained my reasoning. He can't. When you unpack his ranting, there is nothing left. I can give many further examples (as a number of reviews of "Revolution" did). I'd sooner listen to Ian Hislop, Chris Kluwe or Chris Martin than Brand as I'll hear an intelligently stated point of view,…
Is that better or worse that Eddie Van Halen's general approach of showing technique ahead of emotion?
I'm not - if I see someone raising an issue, I want them able to articulate an understanding of it, not devolve in to paranoid BS when asked to explain their position. It makes it harder for the informed ones to be heard amongst a sea of 'Jenny McCarthy's. They can only act as a gateway if they increase understanding…
I could have said that he is what stupid people think an intelligent person sounds like. I went for the polite form!
Sarah Marshall was written by Jason Segel
I've got no time for him. Great soundbite generator, but he has no substance - empty ideas hiding behind a grandiloquent vocabulary. The most embarrassing thing was when he was on Newsnight, and when presented with a graph that SUPPORTED HIS ARGUMENT, he started screaming about how graphs are used by the elite to…
On the plus side, it's different to be directed towards a professionally made film rather than a home video/slideshow effort on Youtube. Doesn't change the fact that it's a propaganda piece, but at least they made an effort…
