not only that but the song was written specifically by Loesser and his wife to sing at a party (as hollywood singers/songwriters in the 40's were wont to do when they went to celebrity parties). pretty unlikely they would have written a playful song that was seriously about assault.  even in the 40's that wouldn’t

valid point about the infrequency of death-by-reindeer, but irrelevant since the song clearly isn’t about assault.

The joke isn’t about the strength (or lack of strength) of the drink, the joke is that she is using the alleged strength of the drink as an ‘excuse’ to explain why she is considering staying the night - an act that in the time of the song society would have judged her negatively for.

If running over Grandma with a sleigh/reindeer is acceptable for ‘holiday joy’, seems like there’s little that isn’t ok.

The idea itself of someone putting something in someone’s drink IS creepy, but in the song I contend her question is not creepy because she’s not seriously asking if the man put something in her drink, it’s just another example of the woman feeling the need to have an ‘excuse’ for staying overnight.

given the awkward wording, my guess is that they are BOTH robots.

I’ve always liked the song, but because I’ve heard it on streaming services as part of a playlist/station I hadn’t even logged that the name of the song was ‘Maps’, so no, I didn’t know that the title of the song I didn’t know the name of was an acronym. ;)

(thanks for the trivia though. someday when i’ve forgotten the

wow, i will readily admit i am not good at remembering or deciphering lyrics and don’t generally try as it’s the feel or emotional tone of the song that is most important to me, but i must have listened to that song at least 100 times and never knew she was singing the word ‘maps’.

I recognized the 2nd line of the reference, but wait - she’s really singing ‘maps’ in that first part?

No they didn’t - a fully functioning analog synth requires physicality - it has a physical presence - that’s the difference between analog and digital. They turned Doodle into a digital simulation of a an analog synth attached to an old-fashioned reel to reel tape machine.

I know you might dismiss me as being ‘that

people who feel guilty about something have that guilt floating right at the top of their mind, they think about it so often that sometimes they just blurt out anti-confessions like ‘I’m not racist’ when all someone said is “Could you pass the salt?”

Is this for some future where remaining stationery for any time at all equals death?

Jealous? No, not really, I like my work to have at least a pretense of providing value to someone.

not only that but using a different VPN service is a feel-good action you can take but isn’t really a solution. e.g. it makes a person feel good that they aren’t using a service that has been hacked, but 3 VPN companies were hacked under different circumstances - there’s NO guarantee other VPN companies have better

he’s just annoyed because he thinks the bidens are new to the capitalist scam game he and his family have worked at (with less than stellar results) for decades. it’s like how the established rich have contempt for the newly rich.

I’ll agree that feature improvements in the service over time are similar to the generations of automobiles (hopefully) improving the performance or adding functionality of features to a vehicle model, but I believe the at-launch limitations of Stadia in terms of hardware requirements and restrictions make my analogy

Saying Stadia is currently (or will be on Nov 17) a ‘finished product’ is like claiming a new car model that can only drive on newly paved roads is a ‘finished’ product.

Can you buy Stadia? Yes, it is definitely a product, but clearly neither Stadia nor the car that can only drive on newly paved roads are Finished.

You would think Tesla wouldn’t charge customers, but since it takes 3-4 years to wear out the memory so the car and electronics are out of warranty, AND Tesla SOLDERED THE MEMORY into the board, according to an article on InsideEVs.com (which appears to be the source reputable news repeater sites are citing) it could

The car-as-brick phenomena could be POSTPONED with a software fix that reduces how frequently the logs are written, but flash memory has a finite number of writes before it is unusable so even with a software fix it’s still just a matter of time before the memory is useless and your car is a brick. Granted if you
