does this writer understand how government works?
Totally fair, but from a numbers perspective, she’s not making a difference outside of screaming at clouds. Where she is admittedly effective. Whenever I open my news feed her ugly ass racist mug is all over the place.
Exactly. He can only do so much. There’s a reason why the SCOTUS points at Congress and goes “nuh uh!” whenever shit like like the Roe vs Wade brief is leaked.
If only Congress and the House weren’t full of chickenshit fuckheads that would rather govern out of spite than goodwill.
Haha! She’s literally done nothing but talk, she was removed from all committees. So....she’s quite literally useless in Congress. Talk about a wasted vote.
The current crop of writers seem to have a poor understanding of exactly how the U.S. government is structured. He can do some things by executive order, but any meaningful long-term change is on congress, which he can only try to influence. Apparently this is now esoteric knowledge.
You may not know this, but the Clinton’s both ran for President (and one of them even won! Twice!) on the ticket of the “liberal” of the two major parties in the United States. What a wild idea! Now, are they as liberal as you or me? Probably not. But you can’t No True Scotsman them out of our end of the political…
finally do something—literally anything—about the impending SCOTUS decision that will likely overturn Roe v. Wade.
Frankly, I’d like to imagine it was over his repeated refusals to abolish the filibuster
That’s OK. We had a good run. I have to admit that I’m a little sad to see us go, but we weren’t terribly efficient. At 50% of our (straight people) marriages ending in divorce, you really can’t say it’s been an unmitigated success when the outcome is an even toss-up. Maybe non-straight marriages have a better success…
I heard they grow ‘the gays’ in peach tree dishes.
The Casey case replaced the far stronger Roe trimester standard with the much more vague “undue burden” rule, which opened the door for abusive TRAP laws by Republican-dominated state governments. It’s good to see Casey Jr take a stance beyond his father’s odious role in the anti-choice movement.
In a similar situation, it took loud, rowdy protests at all hours directly outside of the home of Boston’s Mayor Michelle Wu for her to try to get police involved, and then largely because of the impact it had on neighbors. The reason for the protest was a COVID vaccine mandate for public sector employees. It required…
Hours later—in a true testament to how effective the Senate is when it concerns protecting the cowards its comprised of—a security bill for Supreme Court justices’ family members was promptly passed. Any federal legislation to protect abortion rights has quite predictably been held up.
From Susan Collins to Karen Collins with just a phone call.
Sheesh, what a snowflake.
Alabama has health officials. That’s news!
In what sense do you think nobody else is a Hitler? Because if you’re talking in terms of millions of people killed, there actually is worse than Hitler in the 20th century.
Wait... WHAT? I can’t even fathom what point he is trying to make: “Hitler was a good example by rising from homelesness to Chanceller”? Or “The hardships of homelessness made Hitler into a genocidal”? Or yet, “Homeless people will eventually turn into Hitler”?
Hitler’s greatest achievement was killing Hitler.
“Or in Hitler’s case, a very unproductive life.”
I love this moment where even his fevered Trumpist GOP brain realized what he’d been saying and he tried to swerve just before abandoning ship entirely.
