Yeah I agree. Like if I wanted to be precise about it I’d say “I’m a 6 on the Kinsey scale” but it’s a lot easier for me to just say “I’m (basically) gay”. I get that “bisexual” is technically correct, but it’s too vague for people with very strong preferences to identify with imo.

I definitely don’t disagree that it’s a pretty silly criticism, considering how obviously feminist the premise of the book is, regardless of the author’s gender.

Eh, you don’t need to research personal info about the author to write a Newswire about a book adaptation. I certainly never would have thought I’d need to google the author’s gender. (Still funny though.)

Cool!

Damn I thought the headline was gonna say “sequel”.

Depends on the sunscreen. There are many inexpensive options that feel great on the skin, but I’ll admit they’re not always easy to find in America.

Relevant reminder: Sunscreen isn’t just for preventing sunburns. It dramatically reduces aging. If you care about wrinkles, wear sunscreen every single day, even when it’s cloudy, even during the winter, and even if the only sunshine you get is through the windows of your car during your daily commute.

That’s how I feel with The A.V. Club.

you can’t even do anything else on your phone if you’re watching a movie.” Shit. That’s a good point.

“It doesn’t help that it gets a little hung up on the pseudoscientific logistics of the loop.”

I honestly think JKR is convinced trans people are harming themselves and that she’s serving a public good by speaking out against it. I don’t get the vibe that she straight-up hates trans people the way your average American conservative would (though I could totally be wrong). But man, how can she not see how

The narrative that Biden’s brain is deteriorating is way overblown. He handled himself very capably in a debate against Bernie Sanders; I’m sure he’ll do just fine against Trump.

Believe it or not, the polling in 2016 was about as accurate as every other election poll for the last few decades. It was the analysis of the polls that was off. Trump didn’t win after an extraordinary polling error—just a few points in a few key battleground states allowed him to win. Nationally, the polls were off

Biden has a much higher lead than Hillary Clinton or Dukakis ever had. At this point in the cycle, he has the largest lead of any candidate since Bill Clinton in ‘96, and the largest lead of any challenger since Reagan. In fact, the only time an incumbent president has been polling this far behind and managed to

Yeah basically. Odds are Pence would make the world a worse place than Trump would, but the odds of total calamity are greater with Trump than with Pence. Not a fun choice!

Nobody is particularly enthusiastic about Pence, but I’m sure the majority of establishment Republicans in Congress, along with every Republican who held their nose voting for Trump, would consider Pence to be a giant step up. If Republicans kept the Senate, I’m sure a Pence administration would be much more effective

Potentially. He’s way further to the right of Trump, that’s for sure. But Pence at least wears a mask (sometimes). And I get the feeling that he genuinely cares about the country, even if he’s a right-wing loon and hates us gays and all that. Trump only cares about himself. And like I said, Pence would be less likely

Wait is this a Groundhog Day episode? Fuck yeah okay I stopped reading, I’m totally watching this. Time loops are the best genre. Can’t get enough of that stuff. (Bring on Edge of Tomorrow 2 already!)

Oof that’s a tough choice. In that scenario, I honestly might vote for Trump, in the hopes he dies of a heart attack before his term ends and Pence takes over. (Pence is awful, obviously, but at least he wouldn’t start a nuclear war with a tweet.)

I really think you’re overestimating the impact Kanye West will have on this election. Even if he does have a significant effect, there’s no data to indicate he would help one candidate more than the other. In fact, it might even help Biden. For one thing, Biden is already very popular among the Black vote, and Black
