To be fair the rotary has a small size for its power output, meaning it might be good range extender. Also, the shorter life of engine might be okay with PHEV, if the engine only lasts 60k miles in an RX8, that might be 300k or more in a PHEV that doesn’t use it much.
Author left off that the Tesla driver can immediately change the charge limit from 80% back to whatever value if necessary. It is only a suggestion, change default setting. If you really need to charge to 95% you still can (mostly this isn’t necessary)
They are profitable with cars alone this quarter. Emissions credits are less than 5% of their revenue (unimportant).
I hope people realize this isn’t actually an Easter egg, if you ask “open <word car doesn’t understand>“ the charging port opens. This is same as some of the other “easter eggs”, like my butt is hot will turn on AC.
Autosteer turns off in a fit of rage at 90 mph.
It throws a fit and locks you out of using lane keeping until you park car as soon as you exceed 90 mph with it on. Go pedal lets you keep Autosteer on until that point (useful in areas where speed limit is wrong in map, like car thinks it is 35 mph but really 55 mph most of the time, you press go pedal and can still…
Someone asked me if I was going to use AP driving home from bar (I was totally sober), I told them heck no, I don't want cops pulling me over thinking I had been drinking as AP drives like a drunk teenager ;)
Autosteer is not possible without ACC, so no lane holding possible with Autopilot disengaged.
It is not possible to use AP over 90 mph. It absolutely was not on and had nothing to do with the crash. The driver was probably in AP jail (unable to use the feature until you park the car for exceeding 90 moh with it on)
