I think King said he based Carrie off of two girls he'd known who were viciously ostracized when he was in school. At least one of the girls killed herself later in life. Which is the real undercurrent of the horror, or ought to be.

This is gonna be so good. I hate that I've already seen so much of it, but I can't stop soaking it all up.
That chick has the best horror face.

I'd give it a B.  The acting, special effects (didn't see the 3-D version), costumes and props were all well done.  The dialog wasn't anything special, but wasn't bad either.  The movie was on the short side though.  Also, some strong female leads in this movie make for a refreshing break.  I'd say it's worth catching…

Overall, though, there’s more good than bad in the two hours “Parker” spans. The best we get here are modest action diversions: a knife fight that goes over a balcony, or Statham using a bar stool to threaten somebody’s life, and noting the ignominy of death-by-barstool.
