Yeah, CBT and interpersonal therapy are generally thought to be the most efficacious for depression (third wave treatments like mindfulness-based CBT for depression and acceptance and commitment therapy are also showing promise). Talk therapy is a general term for any psychological treatment that doesn't involve

I honestly do feel like sometimes they change Gretchen's character to fit the depression storyline.

They don't really do a good job depicting Edgar's PTSD, IMO. Which I find sad because PTSD is even more misunderstood than depression. There is a lot they could show that would reflect real life behaviors commonly seen in veterans with combat PTSD (for instance, always having to sit facing the door, avoiding

I thought it was realistic since her psychiatrist referred her and presumably would know who's generally good and not good Although there are certainly a lot of quacks in the LA area.

TV in general (not YTW, to their credit) tends to portray all therapy as old school psychoanalysis with people lying on couches and talking about their dreams and mothers. It isn't really that anymore. There are still some therapists that do that, of course, but a lot of therapy now is short-term and manualized.

Nope, I mean it seriously! I imagine it's how doctors feel watching doctor shows and lawyers feel watching lawyer shows. Although I would argue that pop culture's understanding of therapy is much worse than their understanding of medicine and the legal profession.

Ughhh, I hate watching TV shows portray therapy.

I'm a therapist and I wouldn't suggest doing that.

What did Paul do, exactly? I think a lot of people would be reacting similarly in that situation.

Yeah, I honestly think that sounds way better than this show.

This book and the Wayside School series were definitely in constant rotation when I was a kid.

The animation was ugly, too.

Someone posted a bootleg video of the entire show on YouTube. It got pulled, but less quickly than I would have expected.

I think it's because Lauren Ash has a nice figure, so they had to make her face even worse.

I loved Andrew Rannells (sp?) as Bertram and wish he could have stuck around a little longer. Ah well!

The last time the Republican party lost the election, their post-mortem said that they need to appeal more to women and minorities. Clearly they didn't listen and still aren't listening, and IMO the party is doomed to split or worse if it keeps heading this way.

Yeah, I think i'd prefer Trump to Pence… as horrible as that is.
