My theory is that the younger brother that will kill her is Jaime.

Yeah, it's nasty, but at least it's less clear cut than her screaming "no" the entire time. I dunno. I definitely think that GRRM has some misogynistic tendencies that show through in his writing.
Honestly, I read it as rape in the books. She's completely powerless.
God, I sure hope that isn't true. I don't want Cersei to have a legitimate claim to the throne.
I saw someone comment once that the showrunners appear to think that Stannis doesn't have a legitimate claim to the throne. I totally agree. Not sure why they hate him so much. I keep trying to tell people that he's not this awful in the books and in fact he's somewhat likeable.
Whoa, I never realized that was intentional! My mind is blown.
Playing Devil's Advocate… Sexual assault research discusses this idea of "token resistance," which is a woman saying no to sex when she really means yes. Think "Baby It's Cold Outside" (although many have argued that song is depicting rape). It's a very damaging cultural conceit for many reasons, but I think that's…
I think it's a problem though because it fundamentally changes Jaime's character, and at a time when he's supposed to be getting more likable.
If it turned consentual, they damn well didn't show it.
Would you say that about the horrible male characters (deserving to get raped, that is)?
In the book, in my opinion Cersei shows token resistance—like, basically saying no because she feels that it's proper, despite really wanting to have sex. That scene in the TV show was rape. I am super upset that they did this to Jaime's character, especially when he's supposed to be on the road to redemption.
Knowing what's coming in the future makes the scenes with Dany unbearable for me. It's all so badass and exciting right now, but we know what it turns into. Ugh.
Yeah, he's like too hot and awesome. In the books I was like "… Eh." In this episode, even my husband was attracted to him.
My partner presented that argument and I was like "Nooope." Regardless of whether or not she wants to have sex with Jaime at all, she didn't want to have sex in that particular place and at that particular time, yet he forced her.
I'm also a huge romantic and tend to be a crazy shipper as well, but I also think that some shows just aren't meant to have ships. I felt that way about House and I feel that way about Community as well.
I love the feminist bookstore owners, but they're funny in small doses. I think seeing them in every episode gets tiresome.
Seriously. Jeff/Britta is waaaay more fun to watch than Jeff/Annie.
I think some of it is wish fulfillment for the male fans/writers, too.
He's such an ogre!
I'm really not looking forward to the endless string of guest star romantic interests for Nick and Jess.
