I disagree that the redux of Barney/Robin wasn't a sign of creative exhaustion. To me it reeked of the writers basically shrugging and going "Well, we don't know what else to do until Ted meets his wife, so let's go back to that same old tired love triangle again."

And let's not forget Ted's "backup career" being a professor at Columbia (will forever be bitter about that one). I also know a lot of people who were annoyed at Lily's attitude towards her job when teaching gigs aren't always easy to get nowadays.

I still argue that the detective line was meant as a joke (because her observation was so obvious) and not a true childhood fact.

It started out that way, but I think as the show kept getting renewed they kept delaying it more and more, and then it seemed like they were circling around the airport with no intention to land. They kept repeating storylines and giving the show pointless filler. I watched HIMYM from day one and even I got really

That's what drives me nuts about Barney/Robin. The writers pretty much went out of their way to show us what a terrible couple they were the first time around. Why will it be different this time? I actually sort of liked Robin/Barney the very first time around, but then I completely lost any feeling for them after

I think that gender humor is ridiculously played out, but I did laugh at "I'm already sick of these boots!"

Must… lower… prices!

I also liked the guy being really mad at Homer eating his leftover room service food until Homer said "I'm American."

There are a few scenes that made me laugh, but my partner actually turned off the episode in annoyance during the final scene with Marge and the translator app.

Oops. Guess that, like Lana, I need to read a book.

The car shopping absolutely slayed me. "Someone suggested adding headlights. They were let go."

Not for Maria, though. I remember in the WSS revival people were even upset about Josefina Scaglione because she was a "white" Argentine. Fanny's a little different—Funny Girl hasn't been revived just because it's such a difficult role to cast. Although, Lauren Ambrose was considered and she isn't Jewish so I guess

Ugh, really? I forgot about that. I was so annoyed with the whole WSS storyline and the casting that I must have blocked it out.

I don't really buy the "Rachel played Maria so it's okay for Santana to play Fanny" argument. High schools aren't exactly known for their ethnically-accurate casting due to a limited casting pool. For Broadway shows, we do and we should expect better.

It would help if they'd stop having all of these rigid expectations of the other, too.

I really hope they don't go that route. They did it with Ross and Rachel and by the end I didn't care if they got together or stayed apart, as long as they made a decision and stuck with it. I don't want that to happen with Nick and Jess.

Yeah. I felt depressed by the end of the episode. I knew their breakup would hit me hard and it did.

I didn't get that feeling at all from the way he said "legendary." I thought that Ted sounded really happy.

I dunno, I get that love isn't sensible, but just because you love someone doesn't mean that you should be with that person. Speaking as someone who's heard a lot of people justify being in a crappy relationship with "But I LOVE him!"

Yeah, it's a foot infection that animals can get. In guinea pigs, it's usually caused by a cage that's too dirty for too long or wire flooring.
