What’s your point? Should we tolerate murder or even an unsafe environment for people committing a victimless crime? It’s unsafe BECAUSE it’s illegal. I think the statement “no one forced her to” is a bit inaccurate. Ideally news sites would have never published unverified speculation from a jilted lover, but once they did, she was somewhat obligated to respond.
