Oh Strategic Air Command, back when AMC was “American Movie Classics” it seems that thing was on every other weekend almost.

Well you also have people here in the US who actively rail against any improvements in public transportation. “Why do I have to pay for that, I don’t go into the city?” or “if you do that crime is just going to spread to where the train goes (or buses)“ or some other mix of veiled classism and or racism.

Having ways for folks to get from A to B without a car is helpful in this as well, the dumpster fire that is public transportation in the US makes cars less of a luxury and more of a “how the hell else am I getting to work?” item compared to Europe.

If you make it considerably harder to pass and keep a drivers license

Half of those trucks have the same siren, they are just letting it stay on and constantly wail. You get that “RRRRrrrrrrrrrr” effect like the clips of the NYC ones by hitting and then letting it spin down. Its the same siren unit, its just how they use it. Urban departments tend to not just let the siren wail at full

That is not a unique to NYC thing, that is pretty much how all fire trucks sound in the US.

I don’t even want to talk to people I know on the trolley, let alone strangers.

Specially stubborn bolts.  Hose it down with some liquid wrench and go take a breather for a bit.

I was going to say, my adjustable wrench is almost 100% used for home plumbing and conduit use and rarely if ever for anything on my car.

Did they charge her with disturbing the peace?

If I was going to give stock car racing a whirl..... I think I would steer clear of any of the super speedways. Things can go really really bad really really fast to those who know what they are doing, let alone a rube. For Joe or Jane Rando, pretty sure that’s a recipe for being upside down in the catch-fence and

That’s the pantry of someone who is just a little too into Huey Lewis and The News if you get my drift.

I always point out to the “you can’t clean a cast iron pan!!!!” crowds how cast iron is used in restaurants, and how the health department would take a dim view on not properly cleaning cookware.

So you think soccer is less racist?  Have you been paying attention as of late?

They might be a little more robust, swapping out the usual bits for more heavy duty, but that is more “this is a pool car, that is going to get beat to hell and back, need some of this stuff to last a bit longer” than any sort of performance goings on.

The chances of that happening are nearly zilch.

And even for the Pacific time zone, 10:00 is the last hour of prime time TV.

That bus driver looks like he’s about ready to contemplate murder.

Wendy’s Frosties are yum.
