I’m guessing commercial real estate will probably see a big shift for the next few years. The company I work for, alone is putting a few billion dollars of office space projects for employees (land, buildouts, etc) on pause.

Neutral, wfh until 2021 (at least) and we can watch the world burn remotely. With that stated, I’m missing my free office meals and pastries and massages

Musk needs Silicon Valley more than the Silicon Valley needs Tesla. For their outsized impact on the daily commute on the 101, 280, 237 and 85, they are considered a small employer there, and a toxic one at that that any employee worth their salt avoids. (Plus, what the fuck is wrong with Apple? They’re toxic as fuck

Ha. I actually knew that bit of arcane knowledge. Places like SMIC is mostly running under 2nd hand tools from UMC and TSMC while those guys are running generations ahead. Family and myself at one point all worked in that field in various forms.

It’s more about policy and money.  They’re hoping people won’t show up, but have already paid and can’t lose it.  If they don’t sail, they have to return money.

That of course is the main point re Trump. Sadly, it’s obfuscation by omission in the case of the CCP and hence the equal blame.

I’m of 2 minds on this.

The video is obviously one sided and revisionist on what China did. That said, it is possible to be critical of both Trump and of China.

I mean, there has been well substantiated accusations of statutory rape as well as lawsuit regarding rape with Trump, so that ship has sailed long ago.

It was written with input from private carriers lobbyists in a move to try to push towards insolvency and privatization (word was UPS, FedEx wanted to pick the carcasses)

There is no ethics in stock buybacks. Both my parents and my in-laws were both executives at different publicly traded companies. They saw the leadership do this repeatedly to increase the stock value due to their bonuses being tied to increases in stock value. This is all about short term gain for few.

Not a Tesla fan, but I feel like at this point, if people ask for an electric car; i’d point them towards a Tesla (or Bolt, or Rivian). It’s almost like the germans are satisified with phoning it in.

I know it’s funny, but I can legit see this as something empowering for folks with limited mobility.

I want to agree.  Can you please show me the research you’re referencing?

Ahh. That explains the behavior of Ohio drivers that I see here in Seattle. I just assumed you guys all just learned to drive on a tractor or something.

Working at FAANG level tech companies, most employees have degrees. In fact, most of my coworkers have MS/MA or PhDs. You may not need those degrees in particular for the job, but those are definitely a factor that got them considered for those jobs in the end.

So wait, X86 is out, ARM is restricted. Is China going to create its own hardware architecture and then software layer? Because the instant they infringe on any small element of X86 or ARM, they won’t be able to export out of China (and that’d be disastrous to any company that would attempt this)

It’s totally nutty and weird when you see the Mustang Mach E, and you think to yourself “F**k that name, but at least it’s a decently competitive car”. Why? Because performance and range competitiveness matters in the EV world, more than anything else.  To be competitive, the 300mi and AWD option, 4-ish second 0-60
