They sold like mad in South America.   They weren’t too great, but they were cheap and cheery.

As someone else mentioned, this isn’t displacing a Chevy Bolt purchase; this is displacing a gas guzzler.   This is a win by all accounts.

Don’t forget the publicly funded C89.5, the longest running dance / electronic music station in the world.

Well, if you’re in seattle; you’re in luck.

The range is the killer on this car right now. The charging curve is amazing though (150kw basically from 10-80%), and would make this a competitive care if they fix the performance and range issues.

I’m in the same camp. We replace cars every 7-8 years each and we have multiple reservations in place. In my mind, if 1k doesn’t dent the budget, it’s not a bad vehicle to reserve. It’s a bit of a more known quantity now. I also plan to reserve a Lyriq once the AWD version becomes available.

Nope.

started with SUV, decided on adding a truck also. Figured the preorders are spaced enough that it’ll be fine with 2 cars.

AND, it’s still equivalent to like 60-70mpg counting national average electric and gas rates. That’s awesome vs the current high performance ICE offroaders, SUVs and trucks.

My wife, who is from the east coast; used to drive in snow all the time with a FWD on all seasons. Her eyes widened the first time she saw what snowy conditions on western mountain passes (like Cascades and Sierra Nevadas) were like. Yeah, AWD matters here.

My electrician charged me 15 bucks to prewire it while doing our remodel.  Setting up for future solar cost another 15 bucks.

That said, I’m happy we’re only paying like 10cent/ kWh and not the 19-38 cent/ kWh that PG&E is charging

That “gold plating” actually doesn’t cost much. It’s the cost of labor, and the stretched demand nationwide for these guys. Cost of 200/sqft is common everywhere there’s demand these days for cheap homes. If you want to get a builders attention for a good quality mid-high end house, expect 500-600/sq ft even in rural

There’s no magic formulation. Most CARB states adopted the same formulation. It’s due to the regionalized nature of refineries and distribution (do you really want to ship gas far distances) that makes it conducive to pricing collusion.

I’ve been eagerly waiting for this article since you were spotted in the snazzy labs youtube video standing next to RJ.

You know that in the same damn race, they truck in a dozen of fucking tankers each day to keep the cars running? So negligible vs the gas transport.

What do you mean? I’ve heard slightly better things from my ex-Apple colleagues than my ex-Tesla colleagues. I mean, it’s like choosing between being shot or stabbed, but still. They’re may not possibly be the worst!

Still, it’s mostly Hydrogen Fuel Cell as stated. Plus, even if it was a diesel generator, it’s still more fuel efficient and less carbon emissions than gas/diesel ICE vehicles due to the efficiency of the generators + the fact that EV drivetrains efficiently convert the battery power to actual power in the motors.

So this is why Tesla moved to Texas.....
