The current J150 and N280 is on the same frame. The body is different, but (market dependent) alot of the underlying mechanicals is similar. Family has an N280 OffRoad, so I know the cars pretty decently.

Having driven an Everest and a LC Prado (4 Runner) back to back (7 days in each car), the Everest drives waaaay better than the Toyota.
