But apple demands a certain cost (and a schedule of cost-downs) to go in line with their margin requirements.

By the way, these things are not black and white.

I see it from both sides, having worked as a customer of these OEMs (HonHai being one of many), and with my parents being a major equipment supplier to these OEMs (HonHai being one of many), and knowing many people who work for these OEMs (typically not Chinese, but rather from Singapore/HK/Taiwan).
