I was actually going to mention the endless Simpsons and Seinfeld quotes I run into in my original post but I knew, this being the AV Club, that I wouldn't need to. Thanks for proving my point.

I don't like what you like so I'm idiot? You must be fun at parties.
Midnight Oil's "Powderworks" from the Scream in Blue live album. The opening salvo before the first verse is blistering and magical.
Marr's extended riffing and caterwauling during the last third of The Smiths track "The Queen is Dead" is my favorite anti-solo.
Reading this review makes me miss home (Australia) and reminds me yet again that my home for the last 3 years (America), has a habit of talking in such a high-handed way as the self anointed cultural arbiter for the planet.
I guess, but it's in the lexicon and people know what you mean when it's expressed. How about - I like my tech in a small black box?
True, but a performance gaming computer doesn't come with the form factor of a console - at least not yet.
I'm more interested to see the Valve Steam Machine when it launches at this point. The ability to upgrade components over time and a huge library of games seems more appealing to me.
Imagine going on as the second band at that gig!
So he could keep an eye on things.
Agreed. Every other episode this season received a higher mark and yet this was the best by far. Chess metaphors aside, it was subtle in a way that the show hasn't been since the episode last season where Rick runs into the guy from the first episode.
Rudy: "Man, I gotta try some of that new Krokodil shit that's hit the street."
Fat Albert: "Hey, Hey, that stuff ain't cool Rudy. It rots your brain and your flesh. You wanna be a zombie Rudy?!"
Rudy: "STFU bitch. I do what I want. Come at me with that bullshit again and I'll cap your ass."
Alice in Chains tends to be the band I can appreciate the most from this era whenever they come on the radio. Never a big fan of the genre, but Rooster, Them Bones and No Excuses are ok in my book.
I guess it depends if you mean punk as a narrowly defined sound or the DIY movement it kicked off. The later is still going strong I'd argue.
Yeah, well…that's just like, your opinion, man.
If you're a punk fan, add the Hard-Ons to your list of bands to check out. A great place to start is the AC/DC cover they did with Henry Rollins back in the 90s - http://www.youtube.com/watc…
I remember the first few Cranberries singles being pleasant enough for MOR songs from the era. I was going through a Sundays phase so it seemed to be Smithsy enough to like. I was also listening to the Geto Boys and Frank Zappa at the time. I was a confused young man.
Is this a character from Spring breakers?
…meanwhile, on the other side of the planet….
Fair enough, thanks for the qualification.
