This just shows any contract to sing the National Anthem at a big event like this has to include a “no diva” clause: sing the song as intended, not as to try and make the news or have your “one memorable moment” as it were. Pretty much any time someone takes liberties with how it is sung, it turns out badly.

If you ignore Dirk van Dickweed and his “oh-so-warm” advice, I say try it. I have know a number of people in derby that also did inline speed skating at one point & a few tried to make the jump to ice. Erin is the first one to make it to this level though, but she is truly an exceptional athlete (and human being).
