I've been in a research site with curves too (round footprint) and there's one think that everybody complained about: laboratory furniture is not meant to be against a curved wall. They had to spend a crazy amount of money in custom tables.

@Unspellable: I work with average levels of radiation and I haven't experienced that, but I have friends that handled more active sources and they told me that shields do feel warm to the touch.
