They are two different types of fire extinguishers. The one with the big wide nozzle uses CO2 (the cone protects hands from frostbite). The one with the narrow beam is wet chemical based because the bottle is polished.
Other than the RON, MON, AKI mixup you have, a higher rating gas does not add power. More octanes and other stabilyzing chemicals reduce the possibility of pre-ignition (explosion before spark plug lights up) and knocking (mild detonation).

I'm in the market for a wagon and I don't think Volvos are priced like BMW.

I'm with you here. I think the designer wanted to highlight the turn signal while at the same time give it a more unique look. The used a similar but more civilized design in the current IS.
I find Mobile Chrome more comfortable when it comes to search within in a page. Mobile Safari brings up the quick access menu and I sometimes forget what I was going to search for.
