Some of the most die hard evangelical and pentecostal types I know started out as Catholics but then got "truly saved." Even though they claim to now hate all those Mary worshipin' idolator Papists, they still can't shake all of the early ritual practices they were raised with and sometimes fall back into habits like

I think Cohle considers himself to be enough of an expert from all his independent study.

Could this guy also be the "spaghetti monster" that chased the girl through the woods?

I don't think it's an accident that Bayless, a white dude from Oklahoma, is given a pass for making Mexican food.

Thanks!

Do you have a link for where that pic is? I tried the Bravo website, but that site is a mess to find things.

No you're not the only one. It was discussed a lot in last week's comments so that might be why it's not coming up much now.

That owl freaked me out more than the picture on the wall.

I really wish "make a meal out of dumpstered food from the French Quarter" was a real challenge.

"No wonder some of these chefs are losing focus, if all they've got to
eat at home is Philadelphia cream cheese and Dunkin' Donuts coffee."

Allowed to enjoy: yes. Talk openly about enjoying it: No.

I agree, they were the best part of the episode.

I don't think I'd go so far as to say racist (at least not any more racist than any typical white male in the u.s.a.), but I would definitely call him out for being elitist.

I think it's totally fair given that Nick's tried to maintain this image of being the honorable nice guy who's willing to help out teammates even if it hurts him, and when it came down to the wire he's just as competitive and ruthless as anyone.

He initially didn't want to lend his knife to Carlos, I wish he'd stuck to that decision instead of trying to play the Nice Guy card.

I thought the same thing. Diane's response was enough to placate Will but also ambiguous enough to make me think that she still doesn't trust him.

Thanks for the Grub Street tip!

Has AV Club stopped recapping this show? Am I going to have to go elsewhere to emote about Knifegate?

I think I remember reading somewhere that even John Boutte is sick of the song. I don't think it's terrible, but it's one that I often skip over when I'm listening to the Treme soundtrack (that and the DJ Davis "Shame Shame" song).

The next time someone tells me they don't get what's so special about New Orleans, I will direct them to this post.
