From what I understand "ship" is short for "relationship" and is used a verb. Instead of saying "I wish these two characters were in a romantic relationship," one would say "I ship these characters."

I saw it as clearly non-consensual. Kidman's character was physically overpowered, and her only option was to have sex with him as a way to escape the situation without further injury.
