Then developers need to stop using that term when they actually mean cancelled...
the thing is, if they make way more money from micro transactions/season passes/etc than the initial sale. they really should make the game free. honestly it would be to their benifit. people are more inclined to pay micro transactions for good games they got for free than otherwise. as they feel they owe the dev…
Hahaha yeah why fight to improve for something you like, right? Hahahahaha why would anybody do that idiots hahahahahahahaha
What I love is that Monster Hunter World seems like a game that would be RIPE for lootbox-style exploitation, but Capcom just... didn’t do it. That alone garners a huge amount of goodwill from players, and is likely one of the reasons that word-of-mouth is creating so many sales for this game.
The key difference here is Capcom has refined MH over the years and created the ultimate version of it, as a game to be played by new and old players for possibly years to come. Destiny is a platform to sell microtransactions and expansion passes to make as much money as humanly possible in the shortest amount of time.
The thing I don’t understand here is why BioWare is breaking off onto a project that is (ostensibly; I may be ill-informed) designed to compete with Destiny.
BioWare was at its best with KOTOR, Mass Effect (prior to Andromeda—or the end of 3—and yes, I’m an ME 3 end growler), and Dragon Age. What the hell do they need…
A studio known for it’s single player RPG experiences is trying it’s hand at a games for service Destiny clone.... what could go wrong?
The coming year will be critical for BioWare. The prestigious RPG developer has essentially become a one-game studio as it works on Anthem, and pressure is mounting. For more, read our story from last week.
I’m so torn about this. I do want it to be a good game, but mostly because I want Bioware to make more singelplayer RPGs. Would suck if CD Project is the only studio capable to make those western style rpgs on a large budget. (I guess someone would mention Elder scrolls here, but I play Skyrim for very different…
So how is it that YT can have an algorithm that can find videos like this no matter what people do to try and fool it, yet YT is completely batshit stupid in targeting ads that would “interest” me?
Myeah... “EA are good guys too”, sorry, but... After a while in the industry, I can tell you it’s not just a few toxic youtubers who hate EA. It’s also players, but also other publishers. Not because EA makes more money or anything, but because EA manages to completely ruin every single monetization process…
A YouTube video with nearly 900,000 views titled “Why Anthem Should Scare You | Has EA Destroyed Bioware?” just miiiight be the type of thing that the second-to-last paragraph of this article is talking about.
As someone who has spent countless hours enjoying Bioware games, from Baldur’s Gate, to Kotor, to Dragon Age, to Mass Effect, even up to ME: Andromeda, I will be completely ignoring this game. No matter how good the game has the potential to be, EA will ruin it. EA’s predatory monetization of it’s games and pursuit of…
Its done via in-game recon, scout and spy organizations. Run and staffed by players. No automated numbers.
Wish you coulda been there to cool down Darwin, Copernicus, and Galileo and their unpopular ideas!
With any luck, Disney will have enough insight in not giving them another 10 year contract and it will go to a good publisher / developer.
No, that’s EA’s problem: they can’t conceive of doing anything with the license but mammoth AAAtitles that takes years to develop and require a hojillion dollar budget.
We had those games. Play the Jedi Knight series (Dark Forces 2: Jedi Knight, Jedi Knight 2, and Jedi Academy) sad thing is we’ll probably never get anything like them again.
Between your points and the total squandering of Mass Effect, someone up top definitely needs to be fired
