That is incorrect. There is some minor dialogue changed if you use alien powers, and eventually turrets will fire at the player if you pass a certain threshold, but the endings remained tied to your decisions and not your gameplay style. Blarfk is correct.

I actually like to turn the brightness down most of the time because I feel like it helps make the graphics pop and areas of darkness feel like they’re actually dark as opposed to covered with an oppressive grey fog. It makes navigating those areas a bit more difficult, but I find that adds meaningful immersion to me.

I’m a little confused here. It sounds like you’re attempting to deliberately keep your head down in-game (by “Not rocking the boat”), and are upset that the game isn’t doing as much to bare its fangs against the setting as it could.
