But you didn’t have to. All downloaded games transferred from Wii to Wii U were playable without paying anything extra. You also had the option to pay $1 to get the Wii U version instead of using Wii mode. I just don’t understand why you’re pissed if you chose to do something that they gave you a way to avoid.

It was completely optional though. You could play them just fine in Wii mode without spending a dime more.
