Tempting . . . in a bad, bad way, like having an affair with a woman who’s married to a guy with a short fuse (applicable metaphor for this motor) and major anger issues.

As someone who has parted out some vehicles — bikes mostly — it’s a lot of work that only rarely justifies the hassle, expense and labor. I suppose if you have the tools, time, garage space and a busy eBay account, you might make back your $7000 purchase price . . . but you probably won’t. Just too many things wrong…
Fugly and odd ain’t no way to go through life . . . especially when you’re asking 4 grand for your screw-it-up-myself project.
THIS is how you out-snob the Porsche, BMW and Vette owners who piss you off!
No shit. I had to buy one for a Ford Crown Vic and it was $900 back in the late 80s. Any brain box is gonna cost ya . . .
Sure, why not! Not overpriced, Ford components underneath mean maintenance will be less often/costly, the interior looks like a nice place to use all that horsepower and mileage is reasonable for the age.
Interesting, even tempting, BUT I’m going with No Dice.
The winglets are about controlling the flow of air around the bike, not down force. Done properly and keeping in mind other factors such as windshield design, the rider sits in a cone of “clean air” that lets him/her focus on riding rather than dealing with a buffeting windstorm. Pure aerodynamics and as with anything…
Launch control is a form of traction control, adjusting power in a variety of ways so the rear tire hooks up at its theoretical maximum of “perfect” traction.
It was a very low bar for the stupidest thing I have read here, but that “15 YO GXXR . . .” story is total bullshit in more ways than I have time to list. It was/is nothing but click bait.
I’ve considered getting one of these Ducati’s. New for about $10K, as a just-round-town bike. HD would ask $25K for anything that looked the same.
California has already “succeeded.” If it was a country instead of a state, its economy is larger than most nations.
Harley lost its way more than two decades ago and became a cult rather than a vehicle manufacturer. They can’t get out of their own way, don’t innovate and refuse to accept the reality that what they make is widely loathed by not only most motorcycle riders, but by the general public as well.
Same for us. We could easily be solo car people (do have a motorcycle . . .). However, both of ours are paid off and one was new in 2018. Still, if I needed quick cash . . .
Probably done under warranty or VW corporate decision to make good . . .
THIS is how you do a for-sale listing. Be up front about problems, photo everything relevant, keep the garbage cans and other bullshit out of the background. And most important, don’t out yourself as a self-important asshole like too many sellers -- see yesterday’s example.
I agree, great motor, but not with the Thule mobile-coffin on top. This guy has a beater that he wants premium bucks for. A 5 mile test drive? Proof I can row a manual? Screw him!
TOO MUCH: mileage, scars, roof crap (I’d sell that Thule unit), seller attitude
Strange way to take photos of a car . . . no pictures from the side?
I actually took a hard look at one in person at a trade show last year. Liked what I saw and appeared well-constructed. And the SRP price — I think around $8,000, but don’t hold me to that — meant it would be a cheap off-roader that could be an errand-running second or third car.
