While I'm not a huge fan of the city in general, New York has some pretty great public transit, thanks to the subway system.

Since no one has said it... NYC. The public transit deals with over 9 million daily riders, 24/7/365. Not only does it have options for NYC proper, but it also goes further out into Connecticut, Long Island, Westchester, New jersey, etc.

Rather than scream at you for thinking differently than I do, let me say first that cars are awesome. Driving can be a lot of fun and provides a lot of freedom. I don't have anything to do with the auto industry, I just say so as a car fan.
