Regarding paragraph 4: would “parents” spend less time doing chores, or would “dads” spend less time doing chores? Even if you meant this from an egalitarian standpoint, I think you mean that one parent, mom or dad, would do the chores while the other works.

This is how I do and it works.

Wait ... are we ALL librarians on here?

Yes, that’s totally what I was thinking! I actually misunderstood and thought that Bill had bought the balloon for Charlotte, which made it a hundred times funnier when Chelsea said that people buy gifts for others that they would like for themselves.

I heartily agree. I am a law librarian, though, and spend way too much time reading seemingly identical legal documents - seeing that judge’s decision made my day! I can’t wait to email that around the office tomorrow :)

Maybe the judge (and others mentioned in the following comments) are dyslexic? My son has dyslexia, and it’s known it the community that Comic Sans is one of the easiest fonts for dyslexics to read. The “Diary of a Wimpy Kid” books, which are all printed in Comic Sans, were the first chapter books that my son was able

I love this picture! Thurston Moore & Kim Gordon - I loved them so much back in the day. I feel old now. :(

I think Taylor Lautner is Native American.

Not at all - my parents are immigrants from Eastern Europe, so I’m First Generation American, and I totally get the immigrant/extended family culture - my grandparents lived with us when we were small as well. I moved out of state with my husband for his work, so I’m the only one who lives far away, and my parents

Truly, thank you for saying this. I keep hoping that I’m setting a good example for my boys, and I know that it’s good for them to see me succeed. It’s really helpful for me to hear what you had to say, and to know that kids are proud of their working moms - thank you.

I’m going to take this opportunity to make a confession. I worked until the day I had my first kid, but then I was a SAHM for 9 years. The last 2 years of that I was getting my Master’s during weekends and evenings, but still at home all day with my kids. My career field is not lucrative, and opportunities are

I could hardly enjoy this video, because as a mother of two, the whole time I was worried that she was going to fall off the bed.

My parents did this! My younger brother’s first name is my older brother’s middle name. To be fair, my mom liked another (entirely fine) name for my younger brother, but everyone else in the family said we didn’t like it, so maybe she just did it out of spite because we were being a bunch of dicks.

OK, I am committed now to finally reading this. My dad read it when I was a little kid, and because I was a precocious and voracious reader (always pulling my parents’ novels off the shelves if we hand’t been to the library), he kept telling me that I had to read it from the age of 9 or so.

This story makes me so sad for you.

My MIL loves to tell the story of when my husband, at around age 5, had his tonsils out. The doctor seemed impressed by an intelligent comment he made, and asked baby husband, “What a smart boy you are. What would you like to be when you grow up?”

I pretty much married my first husband for his last name.

And how on earth did “Construction Worker” not make the men’s list?

WTF is this nonsense? Everybody knows that “Librarian” is the hottest female profession. I may look stern, but when I pull the pin out of my bun and take off my glasses, watch out.

I knew Mrs. Fox personally my whole life. My father was a business associate of hers, and eventually also a personal friend. I can tell you that she was truly one of the most classy and interesting people I had ever met.
