I was the opposite, I hoarded all my money and felt bad whenever I bought anything because you never know when you’ll have a bad month or months. You don’t want to think back to expensive dinners and clothes you shouldn’t have bought when you’re broke.

I spent most of my adult life working as a freelancer and recently got a full time 9-5 in my industry. I have to say I don’t hate it, at all. I absolutely didn’t think I could do it when I was freelancing. But getting PAID every week? The SAME? It’s pretty great.

The judge’s frustration should be aimed at a legal system that watches as the victims are commonly killed in response to their attempts to get help. Not someone who obviously knows the danger she is in and the lack of protection the “legal” system will offer her in exchange for their attempt at justice.

VS what would the charge have been if she had testified?

I wager that victims don’t show up or press charges for very good reasons, their physical safety being at the top. Considering their abuser already did it once, they will do it again. You press charges, he goes to jail, gets out and kills you. I wouldn’t take that chance either.
