Holy nerdfest that is a great site - thanks! (However, I’m with Zed and think the wheels on the M car above look great.)

Matt, the title of this post “How Does Chrysler’s Pacifica Plug-In Hybrid Minivan Get 80 MPGe?” strongly indicates you’re going to tell us how the minivan gets great mileage. Why didn’t you answer your own question?

Gwin left Yeti YEARS ago... ;)

Maybe Tavarish can post the instructions on how to do that swap...

Seriously. Trouble is, many thousands of customers will be wowed by this very approach. “Oooh oooh shiny thing!”

The fees may cost nothing, but the hardware isn’t free.

That’s a pretty wild claim you’re making there in your second paragraph. Just one of the many issues is: where are owners going to juice up their EVs? VW would need to build out a comprehensive charging network to support all of these “funky van things.” This ain’t hap’nin.

Autobot for sure.

Seriously, this thing is just a Kia Soul. If the presser never mentioned “Microbus” or “Bulli” or “T1/2/3/4” or “Vanagon”, no one would have ever thought this thing was related.

aaaaand this is why I wouldn’t want all the gesture hooey that they go on about for controlling doors and mood lighting, etc. You don’t really want any kind of people (read: kid) mover that can start to do things when passengers inevitably start waving their arms and legs around. And you don’t want the inevitable

Hand gesture all the things! /s

You’re not my BUDDe. My BUDDe would carry cargo for me and my passengers. Get outta here, VW.

Re: “SLC, for Compact and not Kompact”
I believe that the “K” was for “kurz”, meaning “short”. When the SLK debuted, MB was using also using “Kompressor” on its s/c offerings.

In its day, I am sure few others did, either.

My Volvo mechanic is rubbing his temples and taking an Alka-Seltzer now... He gripes about the high pressure turbos + small displacement engines that Volvo has been doing for a while. This is another level....

Just saw a transporter full of them this morning as I was driving south out of Seattle. Such a good-looking vehicle! Lexus and Infiniti take note because you guys are blowing it.

Why is it not called the Mehar-E? Come on!

Your secret is out! :)

No, she did not. :( Three kids meant four doors took priority over an F-body hatchback with louvers and T-tops.

I always thought they were cool but really did a double take when my mom told me she wanted one more than anything. A few years later my high school buddy bought a V6 model. Riding in it, I was surprised at the goofy ergonomics, and the dash/shelf thing that protruded at the passenger at face level. Like so many 80s
