You don’t work in a restaurant, do you?
You don’t work in a restaurant, do you?
Hate to break it to you, but the managers are forced to do that too. It’s not that they don’t trust their staff, it’s that the higher-ups will literally dock their pay if they don’t “touch” every table. I encourage you to tell corporate how you feel, as that’s the only way things are likely to change.
depends on how you stack them. if you’re stacking plates and flatware and trash all intermingled and whatnot- better to just not do it because carrying a tower of dirty dishes and trash plus whatever else is already in your hands is a huge pain in the ass. If however you make neat stacks of big plates, small plates,…
If someone at the table has been a server does it, great! Sometimes people who haven’t try, and it’s very precarious.
That’s a good point: I was missing the bit about how his dinner companion was still eating. Still, it’s not like it’s the end of the world or anything. And maybe it means he should consider tasting his food on its way down. :-P
I love your anti-(shitty)customer rage so much, C.A. It’s a balm on the wounds of my soul, which I acquired in customer service. They never heal.
It’s a dirty dish at that point. Before it had delicious food on it, now it doesn’t. I don’t want it sitting in front of me, sauces slowly congealing, while I try to talk and eat with my companion.
Absolutely. Stack the plates, silverware and any trash go on top. Their job is hard enough, I don’t want to be the kind of person who makes it harder.
If he's so concerned about etiquette, why is he eating at twice the speed of his dining companion? Come on, delicate flower. Pace yourself.
Not only do some people (most people) appreciate it, the decent ones stack their empty plates and silverware to make it easier to grab.
The other night I was eating a plate of noodles, and enjoying it. I was out to dinner with a friend, hunched over a meal we had been planning for weeks. The restaurant was newly opened and highly regarded. Life was good. And the food was great.
This is irrelevant but I keep clicking on the Taboola links at the bottom of the comments section. They’re so cleverly disguised as Jezebel articles. Damn I hate this.
I will never understand this attitude. I HATE the two minute check or whatever it’s called, when the waiter comes over to see if everything’s okay when you have taken 0-2 bites of your food. But it would never occur to me to blame the waiter for that. It literally happens at every single restaurant. Does he think all…
How dare the server ask to take that empty plate away! It was his. He had it monogrammed to make a complete set of tableware.
I don’t understand why people take things out on the servers. They are obeying orders from their bosses and not trying to piss people off. Being nice to servers actually works for a lot of situations and people are more likely to help if they are treated with respect.
“What are we doing here guys? Guys?”
your cat sounds fucking incredible tbh
Except Ferrari guy. In the midst of all this evil-minded douchebaggery, Ferrari guy seems cheerful and benign.
My cat, who once opened a microwave oven while the popcorn was popping, has more self-control than the caramel lady.
My cat, who once destroyed a floor-to-ceiling lamp with her butt, has more self-control than the caramel lady.
My cat, who once fell off a bookshelf at 3 AM only to land butt-first on my face (catass…
Poor, poor hosts. Man, though: a good host is not a thing to be taken lightly. They’re a rare and precious resource.
