Its'a good decision, the other problem when consumers want cheaper prices, is the damn phone bills! THOSE need to go down somehow, especially since a lot of the time you're forced to use both voice and data on your new contract phone.

Point is, the new ipad was announced *today*, everything else before this was all speculation and rumors. What real newsites would have reported on rumors and speculation? Only a small percentage of people frequent sites like giz eng, etc... on a daily basis to find out what's next.

I'm certain many people have more important things to do then to check what gadgets are coming out in the current week, not mention some don't care, or they don't how to check.

Not exactly the same thing, the name and content resolutions are different. HDTVs play for SD and HD programming. Even if it were a bit confusing, it'd still be much better then "new ipad".

I see it as completely stupid, but hey when did giz ever disagree with Apple? ipad 3 did seem a little boring, but then "ipad HD" popped up and I thought it was sorta cool and matched well, giz also said it made sense

Sure you do that. Either way the weight is still more. Spec-wise, the new ipad(3?) isn't quite up to what it could have for a premium product. Also, nothing innovative about it either, where'd all the *magic* go?

Weight, thickness, battery life, standby, are lower, other categories are nearly identical, and some are better. So yeah I stand by my statement. Another upgrade till the real successor arrives.

The GPU portion is quad-core, not the actual CPU itself.

So, what's the new ipad's official name? I'm assuming its not "The NEW ipad 2012".

I hope to see some solid speculation on these tall claims.

OMG It's difficult to believe people/writers are buying this. A real Retina display would allow you to not see any pixels regardless from what distance you're looking at. Why the hell would you call this a retina display? Hell, I can call my 52" HDTV a retina display if I sit 20' from it, damn Sony invented it…

Your first mistake was getting one in the first place. Should've just stayed with Gen1 and you know apple would have released a better this year (supposedly?), let that be a lesson when jumping on the bag wagon.
