x86 is what I'll be going for. Even if it "only" has 5-7 hours of battery life, I'd rather have a decent-powered laptop for editing then an ARM which will probably last up to 18 hours, and which would be targeted at a different demographic obviously which is fine.

Acer desktop/laptops are just too shitty on the hardware side. I'm ashamed that my family has bought like 4 of them. Acer needs to rebrand, I can't stand their logo and their customer service sucks balls.

This is crazy. Desktops still have a huge marketshare, people use mice on them, and they will continue to do so. I literally have a relative working beside me on her mba and shes using the magic mouse (reluctantly) because she hates the trackpad. If you take away optical drives, firewire and ethernet; thats something important from many different groups. The "vast majority" wont buy the adapters because theyll need too many and be too expensive, and inconvenient! Many people will, and those who understand, will boycort these half-assed products.

What came after Floppy? DVD! Then still the same format, BLURAY!! There is no other similar+cheap medium to which carry your data like that. Movies never came on floppies either! There's a giant collection in your living room to begin with, and "oh shit! Apple never gave me a common piece of technology!".
