Excuse me, I have to go cry at my dog now. The trauma never stops, does it?

Maybe you should’ve been paying attention for the last fucking year?
It’s just like Penn State. Someone in power abuses the people who trust them, the higher ups are told about it, the higher ups look the other way cause of sports.
Hopefully all parents paying any sort of attention to this would already believe their child if they came forward with something, but if not that this can be a tragic lesson for them.
As far as I’m concerned he doesn’t deserve forgiveness. Ever. Neither does your abuser. I hope “forgiving” him helps Jennifer. Because that’s all that matters. As a father of a daughter, my entire world, these offenses should offer the ultimate punishment.
I once was a little girl who adored gymnastics. I viewed the Magnificent Seven as my own personal heroes and I continued to follow as the new crop of Olympians took the stage once I got older. I truly can’t believe the horrors this man got away with. I can’t believe how everyone turned a blind eye, that people didn’t…
And every kid that went through Duke’s basketball program during that time period.
I heard that on Michigan radio as I was heading out of the Walgreens parking lot. I actually pulled into another space so I wouldn’t be crying and driving. I hope Michigan State and US Gymnastics get nailed to the wall for their complicity in this.
You aren’t a bad person for not forgiving, you just aren’t the person who needs to forgive as part of their healing.
If by “take away focus” they mean “people in that courtroom will see us for the enablers that we are” then yeah, that’s accurate.
Maroney filed suit against USA Gymnastics, the USOC and Michigan State. Among other things, the suit accuses the USOC and USA Gymnastics of covering up the sexual abuse by making her sign the NDA. It’ll be interesting to see how this case progresses.
Chrissy Teigen has offered to pay the fine if McKayla wants to, but it’s really up to her because she’s the victim.
“They grow up into strong women that return to destroy your world”
Jennifer Rood-Bedford is a better person than I am, because I have not and will not “forgive” my abuser. He - and his wheelchair - can rot in hell.
I just watched some of the victims and their family address Nassar in court on CNN and I want to force anyone who says that they’re ‘bored’ of the #metoo discussions to watch this. It’s heartbreaking and unbelievable and I hope USAG, MSU, the IOC and everyone else who has been complicit in covering this up for many,…
Pretty much. And sadly, a lot of folks who enabled this to happen are gonna get away with a slap on the wrist or nothing at all. It’s just horrific and fucked-up and will forever change those rose-colored Olympic-spirit glasses when I come across NBC dedicating a big block of time to USA Gymnastics every four years.…
Just reading the ESPN article today, on top of your excellent coverage throughout, has me looking to a dog (or dog GIFs) to feel better.
“In a statement, an MSU spokesperson said that President Lou Anna Simon (whom Cowen called “a coward”) and Board of Trustee Chairperson Brian Breslin weren’t in the courtroom because they didn’t want to take the focus away from the victims.”
“Nassar, who is already imprisoned for federal child pornography charges, is expected to be sentenced on Friday.”
A good thing to see after reading/hearing all of these brave, gruesome statements:
