This guy was in Deadsy. That’s way more embarrassing than living off the family fortune.

At the point it gets to a conservatorship, being given an allowance is likely the least of the things you have done that would embarrass you. And that’s assuming you have any friends left. It sounds like he may be in a long-term treatment facility, so someone has to manage his money on the outside until he’s declared

I’m also 47 years old and I feel like I’d shrink and hide under a rock if my friends and family learned that I’m back on being dependent on a money allowance that’s managed by my mom.

Seems like this guy is in much worse shape than Spears. She also has an added interest, in that in this case, she (and maybe Gregg Allman) made the money that is in this trust, and she is “protecting her investment” in her son. Spears was the other way around, because she earned the money.

Thank you!! My grandma passed away in February of this year and my uncle (a lawyer, but not a smart one) had been trying since 2019 to get her children to essentially “vote” to put her in a home. She had all of her faculties! That isn’t how it works! She eventually caved due to his bullying.

On a separate note, I’ve

That’s why you have to go to court to get them and it is difficult to do, or should be. As you say, people in the US have a right to make bad decisions and it is (usually) very hard to take away decision making capacity from them. You have to show that they are incapable of making decisions or are actively a danger to

I went to club sandwich first.  I am just hungry, though.  Maybe it works on many levels?

Humanity, sadly...

Not sure where the baseball bat comes in, but that’s a Breakfast Club reference for the jock, prom queen, goth etc aspect of the movie, right?

Please stop trying to bring back the “stop trying to bring back the” crutch.

The Collector is absurd if you think about for more than a split second. But on a basic level, it’s a close-quarters, gory horror movie with a surprising bit of heart. Which you might never guess based on the director/writer’s other works. Including The Collection, which was a movie.

“Dreary Kind Of Deja Vu” Did David Crosby put out a new album?

Which is backwards, Raimi was a huge influence on them. A couple shots in Blood Simple are straight from Evil Dead.

I saw the 1st one at age 10 so I think the horror was amazing. Part 2 came out when I was around 15 so the horror comedy and not including the full part 1 story took away from it to me.

People like Roger Ebert realized Starship Troopers was satire. It’s just bad satire.

The Quick and the Dead is a movie that audiences did not get when it came out but looking back at it, you see it was just ahead of its time in how its structures and shot. Honestly can say that a lot about Raimi’s work.   There are a ton of stories about both young film makers and veterans going to see Evil Dead 2 and

Blank Check is doing Sam Raimi right now, and they did The Quick and The Dead two weeks ago. They dug into this a little bit - said that Stone was the one that pushed for both Dicaprio and Crowe and how prescient that ended up being.

I’ve always been a Western fan, and The Quick and the Dead was my gateway drug to Sam Raimi. I was lucky enough to catch the movie in the theater during its relatively brief run, but it doesn’t seem to have found its audience until it started showing up on TV. I thought at the time I was just seeing a quirky homage to

I’d love to read an oral history of TQATD - from the snippets I’ve read here and there on the internet, it sounds like the boys-club studio execs thought they could placate Sharon Stone with a “producer” title in-name-only and then she would shut up and let the men make the decisions, only to find that she was

I expect a lot of people were really put off by it. It’s incredible but man is it rough on everyone involved.
