Worked for both iPhone 6s and iPad Pro 9.7.

OK, so, updated iTunes, plugged iPhone 6s into it, downloaded a 2.31GB update, installed and it seems to be fine. Trying it on the iPad Pro 9.7" right now. Hope it works just as well as there are actually things I want on the iPad that I don’t believe I’d backed up.

Some people are saying that if you update itunes and then reconnect it’s working to finish the iOS 10 installation on the supposedly “bricked” phones. I’m trying it now myself.
