My old housemate's 55+ year old dad, who's a very sensible family doctor, drives a '16 GTI. Of all the hot hatches, it's the most adult there is.

I like them. They’re different. Which is a very rare thing these days. It’s a shame they’ve removed them from the C4 Cactus, but at least they’re available on the C3 still.

It amazes me how little of the concept C4 Cactus got toned down for production, considering how batshit and concepty it looks.

I like the BMW system with the separate glass.

For the most part, yes. I had a reasonably acceptable coffee on EasyJet once, IIRC it was branded from a proper coffee company not just generic crap out of a pot. They had a pot of hot water and poured it into the cups which contained semi-decent instant coffee I think. Of course, instant coffee is never going to be

The Volvo XC90's small overlap rating of ‘Good’ for the driver’s side goes all the way back to the 2003 model year.

That’s shocking. How fast and how heavy was the sled going? Apologies if it said in the video, I couldn’t have the sound on.

Well, my Skoda is their answer to the Fiesta! In fact, it’s a cheaper car than the Fiesta. I liked the Fiesta, but couldn’t afford the Ecoboost engine, while I could afford the very similar performance TSI engine in the Skoda.

Mine does, and it’s the indirect ABS-based system. 2016 Skoda Fabia, so I’m presuming anything with the VW Group’s more recent electronics platforms will have the same.

My family have had a few cars now with the indirect system from VAG and BMW, never had issues.

It does however warn you that you’ve got a slow decompression, which if left unattended can lead to an explosive one.

It’s interesting what you say, and I agree with much of it. I think that the regulators were taken for a ride by the manufacturers when it comes to diesel. It didn’t help that the European fuel economy test cycle is utter bullshit, and so your 60 mpg car actually gets 45 (I speak from experience on this one!).

Well, this is the previous-gen Civic wagon. Based on the Euro-Civic though.

And what’s wrong with government manipulation in this case, to encourage EV adoption? There is no long-term future for ICE powered cars due to their emissions. EVs can be powered renewably, and as the grid improves, EVs improve.

Meanwhile they’re pretty common here in Manchester, and they’re everywhere in London because they are exempt from the congestion charge. My sister even got a Tesla Uber the other day in London.

You must be the first person I’ve come across who’s enjoying Apple Maps! Although I have heard that it is much better now than even just a couple of years ago. The major thing I love about Waze is the reporting of traffic jams, stopped vehicles, police etc. Seeing what you said about Waze on CarPlay for me would put

It looks way better with the wider European plates. Still better without IMO, but the European plates are better.

Definitely not. If I want the passenger to DJ, then with your setup I can’t. Whereas a normal setup I can quite easily. If they’re being annoying and fiddling with stuff then they can walk.

I love having Android Auto. I’ve not used CarPlay, but it seems fine and with much the same functionality, only using Apple’s ecosystem not Google’s (the major downside to that being Apple Maps, of course).

Depends on the way it’s designed. My friend has a Golf GTI with the ‘Climate Windscreen’ which is heated, but doesn’t have lines. There’s a conductive layer in between the glass layers instead.
