I had a Focus with it. Was an awesome feature! Wish I had one on my current car.

My mum had an ‘05 Golf which did that too. And they would come on over 130 km/h too.
My Skoda will turn on the A/C automatically when you turn it to the demist setting too, for exactly this reason. If you have climate control (mine’s just regular simple A/C) then it has a sensor on the mirror mount which can detect increasing humidity and will automatically turn on the demister and A/C when required.
I think that’s a mandated thing.
My 2016 Skoda Fabia will tell you which light is burnt out. I had an indicator bulb go the other day and it not only popped up a warning lamp on the dash, but it also gave a message in the dash cluster screen and there was a message in the ‘Car’ page on the infotainment, along with the mandated ‘fast flash’ that all…
Sony had fantastic tube TV tech. There was nothing that could match the Trinitron tech. For years Toyota/Lexus has had the best hybrid tech. But the overall tech environment is changing. For Sony, their cash cow went away because LCD/Plasma TVs became viable. For Toyota, their hybrid cash cow could go away because…
And Lexus make cars other than the Land Cruiser. I don’t think an EV Land Cruiser is viable at the moment either, but a small crossover like the NX? An EV version of that would go down a treat. Plenty of space under the floor for batteries, the crossover bodystyle all the soccer moms are going crazy for, and a Lexus…
She is a total badass. She now attacks large lumps of rock with power tools for a living, sculpting them into beautiful things!
In the late 80s/early 90s my mum had an E30 325i Touring in silver, black leather, manual transmission, and a carphone. She was a badass corporate 80s power woman, and then I arrived in 1991 and ruined it all! She says her 325i was one of the best cars she’s ever had.
Well, you can get a manual in the V60 here in Europe!
Totally depends on the individual. Plenty of 70 year olds who shouldn't be driving, and plenty of 85 year olds who are absolutely fine behind the wheel.
I like the Ioniq. It’s very good at what it’s supposed to be doing- cheap, reliable (well... long-warrantied!) transportation for people who aren’t petrolheads but want something super efficient. It’s not much more expensive than a Corolla yet is significantly better on fuel than any other small car.
Well I did write that post in 2013.... XD
It’s how auto-hold works. The VAG system works great. Come to a stop, hold the brake pedal for a couple of seconds, and the parking brake light on the dash lights up in green instead of the normal red. If you turn off the ignition or open a door then the proper mechanical handbrake is automatically applied.
Erm why? The car doesn’t actually apply the handbrake. It just uses the ABS controller to keep brake pressure up just the same as if you’re pressing the brake pedal (same as hill-hold control).
I’m in two minds about this. I don’t think that it’s a great idea to show everyone the whole lot of information. I think it would just scare a lot of non-technically minded people. But have it hidden in a relatively easily accessible sub-menu in the infotainment system, and it would be perfect. Use the gauge cluster…
They decontented the Mk.3 Skoda Fabia to remove this, because it requires auto windows apparently. So annoying.
My Skoda also uses a system which uses the ABS sensors. It normally tells you which corner is low, but not always (I have no idea why).
