How about a different way of thinking about it. Too many drivers think they don’t have to pay attention, and spend their time reading, checking facebook, updating twitter, etc. They do this with or without any sort of semi autonomous system.
Let’s do some math here. Company A makes an semi autonomous system that ask people kindly to keep attention to the road, but doesn’t do anything to make sure that they do. Some of its users stay attentive anyway because they are decent drivers. Of the ones that would have skipped paying attention, 50% die in…
Or purchase consulting services from the presidents lawyer/fixer.
In soviet russia “paperwork issue” was code for failing to pay off the right guy. Wonder if that’s something we imported under the guise of protectionism.
Had something similar happen to me when I was younger. As I got on to a nice, flat stretch of road in my old, beat up, but very dear to me ‘79 280zx, I pushed the pedal to the floor and enjoyed the feeling of its 140 (ish) horses. As the car was reaching <speed> the heater core hose decides its too old for the job,…
One of my all time favorite movies. Too bad the rest of the franchise rarely comes close.
This is the easiest thing for autonomous systems to handle. Your spidey sense points out a bad driver and you are extra vigilant around them. Meaning, that you are less vigilant when your spidey sense is not going off.
“We must not let this happen to the term “shooting brake” as well.”
This is and interesting new take, but I ultimately disagree with where it’s going.
Inside the flotation cushions.
Manufacturers have databases of the vehicles that have outstanding recalls out. That’s how they know not to fix your recalled vehicle twice.
and the car literally tells you it isn’t everytime you turn it on.
Suppose tesla renames their system “tesla driver assistance suite” or something similar. Of those who over rely on autopilot today, how many would go “Oh well, I better stop doing that not that they changed the name”
So in order to be misled, people have to read and misinterpret the text on teslas website, but ignore the text that pops up on their screen every time the turn the feature on?
Out of all the people who used teslas autopilot irresponsibly, I don’t believe there is 1 that would have done otherwise if Elon went door to door telling people in person not to do that.
Isn’t that where everyone lives? What’s that, not yet?
Not sure I agree with that logic.
Some people are. It’s not clear how many.
I used to think all that, and I don’t any more
