I love sci fi, but hate the whole super hero genre. Unfortunately, that’s what most filmed sci fi is today.

Effective communication is hard. The most charitable reading I can give this list goes like this “Have you had to worry about these things? Some people have to, all the time. It sucks. Don’t contribute to the suckage”

I don’t know, I think since disneys take over they have become quiet excellent (and I never thought I would say those words). ep 1,2,3 are the bad ones. especially 3.

Second season is soo much better than the first (I thought the first was very weak). But the show can’t really communicate the social insight the books do so well.

If a mass of people starts rushing out of the a building with some people saying there is a shooter, I’m not going to wait around until I see if there is one. The smart thing is to get out.

Last episode, bumping into remains of the ag dome as they are hunting the proto monster. All in all a good show, science is better then most, but sometimes misses, but man are the books so much better.

Right, they are running a strange sort of charity where they are taking money from their shareholders and giving it to drivers and passengers. As you say, it can’t last forever. Shareholders are either going to demand returns or quit buying shares. Supposing that Uber literally managed to drive all competition into

I meant, does it cover the entire mass of the ship itself, or simply living/working spaces. Sci fi tends to be rather unclear on how these inertial dampers work.

Can anyone explain the strange gear design? The teeth look to be phenolic, presumably that’s to reduce gear noise (at the expense of strength), but why the phenolic ring between the main body and the shaft coupling part? What purpose does that serve (aside from creating the failure it did)? Is it to dampen vibrations?

So we’ve been complaining for a long time about manufacturers covering their engines with so much plastic that when you open the hood you can’t see it, but this really takes the cake. You put the engine under a huge glass cover where its visible, and then cover in not-plastic? WTF? if you are going to show off your

Yes, I’m aware. Why they are giving away money is their business. Gaming consoles play the same game in order to capture the market. The same thing is what ended the blue ray vs hddvd wars. Printer companies and razor manufacturers give away their products in order to get customer to buy cartriges. Hell, some auto

Eff this. If someone wants to give free money to their customers, that’s their business.

Do those work on the whole ship, or just some kind of internal fields that protect occupants?

So quantify it. You know, 10% of all fires caused by exploding vapes. That carries some meaningful info. Saying that its 15 incidents over an unknown time span does not.

Wait fancy anti gravity also negates inertia? I thought it just flipped gravity like reversing a magnet. That hurts my physics way less than an inertia off switch.

It keeps the unspoken promise to protect white American children from dirty foreigners.

Sorry, but that makes you an asshole. Who cares that something really awful happened to that family, she rooted for the wrong team! they had it coming!

I’m not mad that they banned vaping (I don’t vape, I’m not in the navy) I’m mad that they are using piss poor logic to justify it. It might well have been the absolute correct decision, but have enough respect for your reader to avoid emotional appeals.

I don’t think that will work.

Risk management is all about quantifying risk. Otherwise it has a tenancy to turn into moral posturing masquerading as risk management.
