Yeah, that’s what I meant. Neighbor of Chicago, not resident, so I was following things with only a rough knowledge of its actual geography.

That you’d probably love The Dambusters.

You can’t just “except” away one of the most glorious scenes in the franchise though. As much as the rest is terrible once they open their mouths, that one shot and the imagery in the rest of the scene is absolutely fantastic.

Now playing

It’s a lot better before they start talking.

Also when set to Queen:

God, what WON’T this man do?

Deaths don’t have to be bloody to be impactful. There’s something inherently disturbing about watching someone you care about and then they just aren’t there anymore.

Similarly, there’s something utterly horrific about the way they linger on the destruction of Jedha City. On the Death Star, it looks just like a

If the FCC mandates a standard for over-the-air broadcast, I would think that it would be legally required to not need a third-party license fee or for that fee to be waived. OTA broadcast is regulated as a public good, so a mandated standard would have to fit into that arena.

It’s not really any different from killing off UHF in favor of digital broadcast TV. People will adapt.

But without all these Nick Fury LMD storylines we wouldn’t have hilarious lampshading like Iron Man appearing to spontaneously murder Fury (in Secret Warriors I think?) due to being deceived into taking a mission, only for another Fury LMD to walk on screen and complain about how expensive the damn things are.

All I know is that there are a ton of billionaires out there not funding Dredd 2. A pox on the lot of them.

Well the trick is that not every ground breaking innovation actually ever breaks ground.

VR will arrive in interesting ways, but it’s still over the horizon. Once the hardware requirements come down to something an average consumer can actually stomach, it’ll see more growth.

That’s the unfortunate reality of the modern metropolis: if you’re not in the top cut, most people don’t care. Many that do care seem to prefer you rot away from neglect.

From the sound of it, worse. Treasure Island is in need of redevelopment but remote; the site in Chicago is an undeveloped parking lot that’s only used for Wrigley Field overflow tailgating for a select couple of games per year. It’s a hole that has no compelling reason to remain a hole, especially not in the face

I was a bit distracted and noticed them more on first viewing, just because I knew what was happening and I was looking more closely at it. Second time, they didn’t bother me at all.

This is why losing Adrianne Palicki stings so much. She was actually pretty credible as using a very different fighting style to the typical waif-fu that so many smaller actresses get pigeonholed into.

Name an effects-driven blockbuster from a major studio in the last 15 years that hasn’t had reshoots. I’m sure one exists, but it’s virtually standard practice these days to do it. Lucas himself used tons of reshoots on the prequels just as part of the process because it was inevitable that when they went to

It’s weird, but I actually kinda like having figures of characters who die, at least if they were memorable ones. It’s sorta like a totem to remember them by. I would do unspeakable things for a Disney Infinity Arvel Crynyd.

Not sure about that year in particular, but setting it in the recent past does save them from some of the “Why don’t they just use their smartphone?”-type plot holes of a contemporary show without having to resort to “Because Magic”.
