I’m fairly certain that a Board of Directors is meant to be independent from the CEO’s interest and whims because investors need to trust that the board isn’t colluding with the CEO to rip off investors. It’s similar to how auditors need to be from an external source.

Trying to drag Facebook into it now? Gawker, while I’m mostly indifferent to the court ruling with Hogan, this shit is getting out of hand. We get it, you are getting burned by someone who doesn’t like you because of a personal vendetta. Responding by trying to smear Thiel and everyone associated with him makes you

Free speech is freedom from government intervention, not freedom from a rich dude funding a legitimate lawsuit against you. When Peter Thiel becomes President, this is a legitimate gripe.

They aren’t standing with him. They’re saying that what Directors do (legally), on their time and on their dime, is none of FB’s concern. That’s not a terribly novel position to take.

Yes, diversity is important. But diversity for diversity’s sake is stupid. If you have openings for 10 employees and the 10 most qualified people all happen to be white, who cares? The most qualified people should get the job and we should NOT be trying to fill diversity quotas.

Yeah except the injection of that line in the article is purely to draw in racial politics into the article, and throws the authors credibility into the air.

I don’t even see how that particular bit was relevant to the article. =|

“We still can’t seem to contain the plasma within the magnetic field.” “Have you tried twerking?”

the Houston-style control center where dozens of (white, male) scientists crunched data

My best friend and college roommate for three years is a conservative, and was a member of the college Republicans. He was (and is) an exemplary conservative and one whom I wish the party was full of.

I think you mean bigger wallet

About time a billionaire decided to be Batman.

Open your eyes, sheeple! At least we have brave, watchful readers like Asciel with the wit and awareness to call out yet another attempt by the Maleuminati to smack down an uppity woman trying accomplish something with her life that doesn’t involve making sandwiches for her family.

It’s like you were waiting for this article just to complain about something that doesn’t matter at all. That’s actually kind of impressive.

Lawrence used a sentiment and a video of her cute little nephew for a PR-gig. If anyone was potentially victimized here (there wasn’t), then it was her nephew, not her.

Um, quite obviously SHE cares what her nephew thinks. And I’m pretty sure she’d still used that bit, had it been her niece instead.

She is.

My biggest problem with her as Mystique is that Rebecca Romjin really set the bar high. She is fine...but she is not Rebecca Romjin and that is what Mystique looks like to me now.
