Interesting. I’m with Herbie Hancock: jazz is cool and all, but funk is just more fun.

Came back to mention that Tower of Power has one too. Oakland, represent!

I too am big into the music of the ‘70s. It is my favorite era! I’d have been all over this series sooner but my month has been a madhouse.

Can’t really blame the Marsalis Brothers for sucking “the experimental energy out of Jazz”. The acoustic straight ahead swing Wynton and Branford were playing was here before they arrived. When Roy Ayers, George Duke, Herbie Hancock and others were combining elements of Jazz, Rock, Funk, R&B and experimentation there

Red states also have cities, but they like to pretend they don’t know what a city is.

I always assumed that Kelis milkshakes were vegan and that fact didn’t stop any of the boys from coming to her yard....where ultimately charged them but kept their calorie and sugar intake at moderate levels.  La la-La la la

Oakland! Well, I’ve moved around but Oakland is home to me.

I was hoping Queen Latifa.  She’s got the broad shoulders, curves and overall presence to command any scene she’d be in.  Bewitching, she’d chew every scene.  And she can sing.

I’m just giving her much respect for stepping to Joe Biden and telling her truth, that doesn’t mean that I’m ready to anoint her Queen Of America, just yet. We still have a long way to go, yet. Earning respect doesn’t automatically mean anyone earns your vote, I mean, that’s how it works for me.

I know some people have trouble with aspects of Harris...

This is for all those jaded cynics that say debates don’t matter. Senator Harris came to “beat that bitch with a bat” and chew bubble gum...and homegirl was out of bubble gum.

But many would argue “Latinos and Latinas” excludes non-binary individuals, hence the coinage of a new term.

It came from the social justice movement and specifically latinX individuals that wanted to be as inclusive as possible. The X is short for Mx which is the appropriate pronoun and prefix for individuals who are gender non conforming or if you are unsure of ones gender. So instead of Mr or Ms, you type or say Mx. Since

It’s odd to hear it spoken, but it makes sense written. It doesn’t seem like anyone knows who exactly coined it, but it was latinxs (especially in US colleges) who popularized it - not white people. I think it's particularly tied to latinx LGBT activists.

“...the solution, knowledge of self to better ourselves, because I know myself we can live much better than this. Nothing’s changed, it just another sequel, the devil still causing trouble amongst the righteous people...” Brand Nubian’s “Wake Up (Reprise in the Sunshine)” from 1990. This track all wrapped around the

Roy Ayers is 80 years & still throwing down live;  Him & Herbie Hancock are my two STILL STRONG touring favorites

Love Roy Ayers. Dude still performs and I think hes in his 70's or 80's now. I always thought he had something to do with the group Ramp who some people think stood for Roy Ayers Music Project and made Daylight:

The ‘70s is my favorite era for music, bar none, because so much good soul, funk and jazz was released…
