Wintour needs to interrogate why ‘real’ and ‘accessible’ are even associated IN HER MIND with the first Black woman Vice President appearing in the aspirational Vogue?! Is it because, Wintour doesn’t want to foment, God Forbid, white women feeling inferior to the smart, educated, accomplished, beautiful, powerful

We know exactly how this went down. This is why we must stay on their shit 24/7. We all have our regular jobs. As Black people, our second job is boxing with racists, and yes it’s exhausting.

Every non-white person in America knew way back in 2011 when he trolled Obama with that whole birtherism conspiracy. The racists and Nazis knew. Every BIPOC and non-cis American knew, as we kept waiting for the other shoe to drop.

LOL!! Who told these fools to let their kids listen to it?? Cardi B. isn’t the one parenting your kids , you are. People, stop expecting celebrities, sports stars to parent be role models to your kids! That’s not their job, you don’t know them, it’s YOUR job.

Her music isn’t what I listen to, but she is absolutely correct. She ain’t making music for kids. She gets shit for not letting her kid listen to her music. If she let her kid listen to her music, she’d be crucified too. Like, what in the double-standard fuck? Men have been out here singing about hittin it, quittin

I’m afraid that you’re going to have to factor in the show’s age bias, which is likely to take out both Tamisha and Tina Burner halfway through the season, not matter how beloved they are. The odds of a queen over the age of thirty taking this season is very slim. Not impossible, but slim. And I’ll add Rose to that

Fun fact: the queen who replaced Tamisha after she pulled out of Season 12 was none other than eventual winner Jaida Essence Hall.

I found the judges decisions on who won the lip syncs to be so inscrutable they just about appeared random to me

Wow, kicking off a new year with drag race is certainly exciting! It seems both not so long ago and so long ago we were chatting about S12. Time is meaningless.

I understand your point, but in the trans community, I believe that’s referred to as “deadnaming”, and is considered rude and gauche.

GLAAD’s tip sheet for journalists recommends not using their former name. For many transgender people their dead name can be a source of trauma, unlike a maiden name or other name changes. Best to follow the lead of the marginalized community you are covering.

Actually a nice middle ground might be just to explicitly state which characters he plays/played. So “Elliott Page, known for his roles as Vanya in The Umbrella Academy and Juno in Juno, has come out as transgender.” No opportunity for confusion there, and no need to use the old name.

There’s literally a picture of Page right below the headline and the article clearly explains who he is in the first sentence. Alleviating your momentary confusion is not worth trans people’s discomfort.

Counterpoint: we should not deadname the trans man who just bravely came out to the entire world, actually

I personally have a problem with the use of ‘they’ as it is so linked with a plural to me.

Gender is fluid, “they” can be singular, and they can use whatever pronouns he damn well pleases.

I’m not an expert in this at all. but from everything i’ve noticed on things like this before. Once someone transitions, if they’ve decided to change their name, then their previous name shouldn’t be used to refer to them anymore and may be considered insulting, as it could be seen as dismissive of who they really

First-ever acting Oscar nominee to come out as trans, which feels like a pretty big deal!

Well look at that! A surprise 2020 announcement that isn’t shitty!

The Legion of Doom never had a plan as good as “American exceptionalism/MURICA!” is at destroying america. If, like, Scarecrow said he was gonna release a highly contagious pathogen and just tell people it was a hoax, even while it killed 250,000 people, Lex would’ve kicked him out of the LOD.
